Winter Time in Wisconsin

Our family visiting Santa's Country Home
We made it though the holiday's albeit not unscathed...
We took the kids to visit Santa at his Country Home. We have a place that takes you on a tractor pulled wagon ride up to Santa's house. The kids get to visit with Santa, Mrs. Clause and the elves. They get a goodie bag from Santa and get to have hot chocolate and cookies . We also got to look off the deck at Rudolph eating down below. It was magical. Robbie wasn't so sure about getting too close to Santa without Mom but he didn't cry at all.
We had a wonderful Christmas. The kids even made it to Christmas Eve service at 9pm. I think they were all wound up from having my parents, my brother and my uncle over for dinner and of course presents! Christmas  morning Makenna was up early and went through everything before Robbie woke up. He was not sure what to think but was very happy with his Micky Mouse Farm that he got. We went over to my parents for lunch and spent time with my cousins' and aunt and uncle. It was a great day.
The next weekend brought more family parties and lots of time going from house to house but the kids did good and enjoyed it all. Makenna loved having time off from school. The kids enjoyed playing outside and with all their new toys.
Watch out snow here we come!
New Years was nothing special. The kids did stay up late and Makenna made it to watch the ball drop in NYC then she was ready to climb into bed. I made steak and shrimp and we had a nice supper and quiet time at home.

Back to some additional December happenings in the Dombeck household:
Makenna lost her first tooth on December 9th! She was so happy to finally have it out and she got a $2 bill from the tooth fairy!

Lefse Day!!! On December 19th my Aunt Judy, my Mom and I took a day and made Lefse for our family. This is tradition that dates way back. Makenna was so heartbroken that she was going to miss it that I let her come home from school early so she wouldn't completely miss out. After 7 batches it gets to be a long day but really is worth it as there is nothing better than fresh Lefse for the Holidays!!!
The kids both passed out on the way home.

"All done" making Lefse is hard work!

Back to the unscathed part...The kids and I went to visit a friend of mine and her kids the Thursday between Christmas and New Years to the kids could play and also exchange gifts. We were there a few hours before I fell down the steps and hurt my right leg. My foot rolled under and my leg went out to the side and there I was, in a lot of pain. Thankfully my friend is a nurse and got me all set up on the couch with ice and such as we waited for my parents to come and rescue us. There was no way I could drive. So then my Dad stayed at my house with the kids and my Mom took me to the walk in clinic. Thankfully nothing was broken but I did hyper-extend my knee and was really sore for a while. Of course Derek was out of town so my Mom had to stay with us and help out for a few days. I am back to about 90% now so I will live.

I hope that everyone had a great holiday season!
I know it was a joyous one in our home!

Time to cheer on our Green Bay Packers!!!
